SECURITY, COLO. -- More information is released about a shooting where a son is suspected of killing his own mother.
Rayshawn Laster was arrested Saturday morning after El Paso County Sheriff Deputies found the 26-year-old's mother, 49-year-old Brenda Taylor, with a gun shot wound to the head.
Taylor later died at a hospital.
The shooting happened Friday night after the two got into a fight.
According to court documents family members said Laster threatened to kill his mother and anyone else who got in his way.
Deputies responded to the Laster home in the 400 block of Kiva road twice Friday.
The first time was around 6 p.m. when they responded for a disturbance.
Taylor told deputies her son had shoved her and choked her.
Laster wasn't home, and after taking a report for menacing, deputies left.
Around two hours later they were called back to the home, but this time it was for "shots fired."
A family member who was home at the time told police she saw Laster stand over his mother, who was lying in bed, and then saw him shoot her with a handgun.
Court documents also said Laster sent a text message to a neighbor that said "I killed Brenda."
It remains unclear what he and his mother were fighting about.
Laster was on the run for about eight hours until law enforcement tracked him down and arrested him early Saturday morning.
He is being held without bond and is facing charges of first degree murder.
His next court appearance is Monday.
