FORT CARSON, COLO. -- Soldiers from the 576th Engineer Company returned to Fort Carson Friday after a four-month deployment to Afghanistan.

Family members and friends welcomed the 180 soldiers home at a ceremony on the Mountain Post.

The company established a base of operations at three remote forward operating bases and patrolled from Kandahar Airfield to Camp Leatherneck. Most notably, the Soldiers disarmed over 40 improvised explosive devices and removed them from the roads to prevent significant damage to Coalition Forces and local nationals.

They had been deployed since mid-August in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
