EL PASO COUNTY, COLO. -- El Paso County will be accepting Christmas trees for recycling at seven different locations for the next two weekends.
County officials will grind the trees into mulch, which will then be given to residents for gardening, landscaping and property projects.
The "treecycle" program will take place Dec. 31, Jan. 1, Jan. 7 and Jan. 8 from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. The county is asking for a tax deductable suggested donation of $5, which will be used to support youth sports programs and sports parks in the county.
Here are the drop-off locations:
Baptist Road Trailhead: Baptist Road & Old Denver Highway
Falcon Trailhead: Southwest of Woodmen Road & McLaughlin Road
Cottonwood Creek Park: Dublin Boulevard & Montarbor Drive
Sky Sox Stadium: Barnes Road & Tutt Boulevard
Rock Ledge Ranch: Gateway Road (to Garden of the Gods) & 30th Street
Memorial Park: Pikes Peak Avenue & Union Boulevard
Rocky Top Resources: 1755 E. Las Vegas Street
Rocky Top Resources will operate as an extended Treecycle site from Dec. 27-31, 2011 and Jan. 3-31, 2012 (CLOSED SUNDAYS) 8 a.m. - 4p.m. Monday - Saturday
