COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- A suspect made a "run for the border" Wednesday evening, but he wasn't looking for a quick bite to eat.
Colorado Springs Police officers said the manager of a Taco Bell restaurant in the 500 block of West Garden of the Gods Road called to report a robbery just after 4:30 p.m.
The victim told police the suspect entered the restaurant and may have had a knife in his pocket.
He also said that the suspect demanded money from the restaurant's safe.
The man left without any cash but said he would be back.
Officers said just after the call came in an officer in the area noticed a man matching the suspect's description trying to dispose of a black hooded sweatshirt in a garbage can.
The suspect had last been seen wearing a similar sweatshirt.
After further investigation officers arrested the man, Scott Haines, for attempted aggravated robbery.
A knife was not found on Haines, but officers said they did find a broken piece of an air pump which closely resembled a knife.
