DOUGLAS COUNTY, COLO. -- A grandmother could end up facing charges of child abuse after two children under the age of 5 were found wandering alone.

Douglas County Sheriff's deputies were called to the 3200 block of East County Line Road Tuesday morning and found two small children walking in temperatures just above freezing.

Deputies were able to find the home of the children's grandmother, 42 year old Yolanda Borders.

A release from the Douglas County Sheriff's office said that Borders was served a summons for child abuse.

The two children along with a 16 year old teenager were taken into protective custody.

The investigation is ongoing.
