CANON CITY, COLO. (AP) -- Colorado health officials want more testing for contamination before they renew a license for Cotter Corp.'s uranium mill near Canon City.

State health regulator Edgar Ethington says inspectors found contamination under old buildings that are being torn down and the state is worried there may be more.

According to the Pueblo Chieftain, uranium has not been processed at the mill since early 2006.

For now, workers are removing old mill buildings and equipment such as trucks and disposing of the waste in tailings ponds. Cotter officials also are considering building a new mill at the site.
