COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- The search is over for an El Paso County woman accused of embezzling thousands of dollars from a Colorado Springs business.
Friday evening, 43-year-old Christina Michelle Bratcher turned herself in at the El Paso County Sheriff's Office on charges of felony theft.
Bratcher is accused of embezzling more than $460,000 from Colorado Welding Supply, where she worked as the company's book keeper. As a result of the embezzlement, the owners had to file for bankruptcy protection and sell their business.
According to Colorado Springs Police officers, the owners of the business learned of the theft after they received notices of unpaid debts. During a police investigation, it was discovered Bratcher had issued several large checks from the business account to herself. Officers said Bratcher hid the theft from her employers by falsifying entries in the business check ledgers.
El Paso County Sheriff's deputies said Bratcher posted bond just a few hours after she was arrested.
