BOULDER, COLO. (AP) -- The University of Colorado will be using chicken manure to fertilize campus lawns to avoid using pesticides.

Campus officials warn that the alternative fertilizer has an odor and produces dust.

Campus spokesman Bronson Hilliard tells the Boulder Daily Camera the school originally planned to apply the new fertilizer on Saturday, but the heavy snowfall made the grounds too wet.
