LAMAR, COLO. -- Lamar Police officers said one of their own officers has been fired from the department after being arrested for sexually assaulting a child.
According to officers, 27-year-old Darryl Lingle was a reserve police officer with the Lamar Police Department. Officers had been investigating him since early September and obtained several search warrants, where they seized a computer and several storage devices.
Officers did not say what was on the computer or hard drives.
Lingle was placed on administrative leave when the investigation began but violated a restraining order, for which he was then fired.
Lingle is also a former Kiowa County deputy and turned himself in after a warrant was issued for his arrest Tuesday. He faces two counts of sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust.
He is currently at the Prowers County Jail on a $20,000 bond.
Monument Police officers, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation and Pueblo County deputies assisted with the investigation.
