COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- A car that fled the scene of the Chief Motel in Colorado Springs was found a few hours later with a body inside.
Colorado Springs Police officers are trying to piece together what happened in an incident that began Tuesday night around 7:30 at the Chief Motel in the 1600 block of South Nevada Avenue.
The El Paso County Sheriff's Office said deputies were trying to locate a wanted person.
While talking to a person in a grey Hyundai the driver took off and ran over the deputy's foot. The deputy fired one round and a short chase followed, but the suspect got away.
Around 10:40 in the evening officers were called to Memorial Hospital's parking garage for a deceased woman inside a vehicle.
The car found at the hospital has been identified as the same one that had fled from the motel earlier Tuesday night.
An investigation into how the woman died is ongoing, and her name is not being released.
The deputy involved is on paid administrative leave while an investigation is completed.
CSPD Violent Crimes Detectives are working with the DA's Office and the El Paso County Sheriff's Office on this case.
