COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs fire crews are cleaning the damage after a car rolled into a backyard and caught fire in the city Wednesday morning.
Around 10:25 a.m. officials said a woman was speeding westbound on Palmer Park Boulevard just west of Academy Boulevard when she lost control of her car. The car hit an embankment, rolled, went through a fence and crashed into a gazebo in the backyard of a home in the 1400 block of Delaware Drive.
The car caught fire after crashing into a retainment wall.
The woman, who was the only one in the car, was taken to Memorial Central Hospital with unknown injuries, though the homeowner, John Bonato, said he saw her crawl out the back of the car.
Officials have not released damage estimates or the official reason why the woman lost control - only that she was going at a high rate of speed.
