COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- For speed demons that like to push it past the posted limits, be careful. You may be trapped.
"Some [officers] will actually work with you, but some are out to get you one mile or two miles over," Jaime Palomarez, a Colorado Springs driver, said.
Colorado Springs ranks number eight of all U.S. and Canadian cities for most reported speed traps by drivers.
The number eight ranking comes from the National Motorists Association, who took data from two years worth of postings from the National Speed Trap Exchange.
While some Colorado Springs drivers agree with the ranking, the Colorado State Patrol believes the study is subjective because the "speed trap" information is from local driver posts not local law enforcement.
Those postings could be from disgruntled drivers and locations that aren't necessarily "speed traps."
"We're trying to prevent accidents, that's what the state patrol's mission is," Sgt. Rick Hoffmann with the Colorado State Patrol said. "Speeding is one of our big factors for injuries and fatal crashes."
Some local motorists don't seem to mind where the information on the Nation Speed Trap Exchange is coming from.
Several people said they believe local law enforcement uses speeding tickets as a way to make money.
Colorado State Patrol officials said there's no quota or pressure on their troopers to hand out a certain amount of tickets.
