TRINIDAD, COLO. (AP) -- A Trinidad city councilwoman and her brother face multiple felony charges after police in July broke up a poker game at a bar they own.

The Chronicle-News reports Gino's Sports Bar owners Linda Velasquez and Joe Cordova, who is a City Council candidate, were each charged Thursday with two counts of permitting illegal gambling in a bar. Velasquez also faces misdemeanor counts of obstructing government operations and harassment.

In Colorado, unlicensed gambling is illegal except under a "social gambling" exception for people who are friends.

The siblings' representative John Tannous has said as far as he knew, the siblings were in compliance with state law.

A phone number for the bar rang unanswered midday Friday.
