EL PASO COUNTY, COLO. -- Several of El Paso County's offices and departments are moving to a new location.
Last summer, the county purchased the old Intel Administration building off Garden of the Gods Road, and now they are moving in.
Starting this weekend, and continuing through September, the clerk and recorder's office, health department, treasurer, assessor, and Pikes Peak Workforce Center will relocate to the new building.
The department of human services is already there, having moved back in March.
The county is calling the new building the Citizen Service Center.
The total purchase cost was around $25 million, but the total cost of the project added up to around $50 million.
Officials said they needed to move the county's offices and departments because their old buildings were outdated and in need of repair.
They said their new location is a "one-stop shop."
"Whether you need help finding a job at the workforce center, or need to renew your license plate, or pay your taxes to the treasurer, whatever you need to do you will be able to do it in one place," Clerk and Recorder Wayne Williams said.
Williams said his office will begin their move to the new building Labor Day Weekend, starting with the elections department.
He said he is excited because now citizens will have a fourth place to go when they need clerk services.
"We will still maintain a small office at Centennial Hall, and you can still obtain services at the Union Center, and off Powers Boulevard," Williams said.
Even though the county's offices and departments are moving, construction will continue for several weeks.
Officials said they hope to have everything complete by November.
"I think customers are really going to be excited about the environment, but also the services they are going to receive," Deputy County Administrator Monnie Gore said. "Things were specifically designed for those functions."
Gore said parking should also be relatively easy, as there is a free garage near the entrance.
All in all, he said the county is on schedule and budget, and is looking forward to the future.
"We are excited, it is a good thing for our county and our citizens," Gore said.
The county is also using some of the project money to renovate their old buildings such as Centennial Hall and the coroner's office.
