DENVER (AP) -- Noting that Hispanics now make up 20 percent of the state's population, the Colorado Department of Transportation is offering an app to educate Hispanics about making smart choices while drinking alcohol.

Transportation officials say the free app is available for Android cell phones. It allows users to estimate their blood alcohol concentration based on how many drinks they have consumed, how long they have been drinking, their weight and gender.

The app suggests that having a sober driver is the only safe option, and provides the phone number of a local cab company.

The department also offers an app in English.
