Missing baby found, AWOL soldier arrested

LAWTON, OKLA. -- A missing infant from Colorado Springs was found safe in Oklahoma, and her father was arrested on suspicion of abducting her.

Colorado Springs Police officers said the suspect, Derik Hembree, an AWOL soldier in the U.S. Army, was arrested in Lawton, Okla. Tuesday, after he dropped the 1-month-old infant off at a fire station there.

The infant, Brooke, was reportedly unharmed.

Police were on the lookout for Hembree since Aug. 4, when he reportedly took the baby in violation of a custody order.

Authorities are arranging to bring the baby back to Colorado.
