Aftershocks continue to shake Colorado

TRINIDAD, COLO. -- According to an official with the National Earthquake Information Center in Golden at least eight smaller quakes have continued to rattle the region since midnight Tuesday ranging in size from 2.1 to 3.9.

The largest quake was a magnitude 5.3.

Officials said the quake was recorded at about 11:46 p.m. Monday.

It followed two smaller quakes that hit the area earlier in the day.

The Earthquake Center said they have received reports of damage in Trinidad from people complaining of cracks in walls and a fallen chimney.

A rockslide was also reported on I-25 and Highway 12, but the roads are open to traffic Tuesday morning.

The quake was felt as far away as Denver and was even near the Kansas border.

Officials said the number of quakes being reported has started to lesson.
