DENVER (AP) -- A gay rights group is trying to pressure businesses to sever links to organizations like Focus on the Family over allegations the organizations promote anti-gay hate groups.

Focus vice president Gary Schneeberger says retailers should not take political stands.

According to the Denver Post (http://bit.ly/p0SUmO ), gay rights activists are urging shoppers to sever retail links with an online hub called Charity Give Back Group.

The group allows online shoppers to authorize a percentage of their purchase to go to the charity of their choice, including Colorado Springs- based Focus.
