FORT COLLINS, COLO. (AP) -- Colorado State University has been fined more than $23,000 by federal investigators after repeated violations of animal-handling laws.

University officials on Monday confirmed the violations, which included having contaminated feed and failing to provide shade for some animals.

According to the Fort Collins Coloradoan, officials with the USDA's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service refused to comment on the violations.
