COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs Police officers arrested one man Sunday and are looking for others who may be connected to at least eight other car theft cases.
Officers said Monday they arrested 20-year-old Jonathan Johnson Sunday morning.
Reports came in just before 8 a.m. Sunday that a man was breaking into cars with a baseball bat in the 0 block of East Fountain Boulevard. When officers arrived, the man was gone, but an officer spotted a man matching his description while filling out paperwork in the area.
Officers arrested the man, Johnson, and have charged him with first degree criminal trespass.
Further follow-up lead officers to discover car stereos Johnson had stolen from cars. Officers have linked him to eight cases and are continuing their search for additional suspects.
