WALSENBURG, COLO. -- Shocking new details have been released on the high-speed chase that ended the nationwide search for three fugitive siblings.
The trio, 29-year-old Lee Grace Dougherty, 26-year-old Dylan Dougherty-Stanley and 21-year-old Ryan Dougherty are each being held on $1.25 million bonds in Colorado.
The trio is facing charges of assault on a peace officer and attempted murder after a high-speed chase and shootout near Walsenburg, Colo. Wednesday, ending a week-long nationwide search.
"The acute problem is that he fired at both sheriff deputies in Pueblo County as well as state troopers," Pueblo County Sheriff Kirk Taylor said during a press conference.
According to arrest affidavits, Ryan was the driver during the chase that reached speeds up to 120 mph.
Dylan was seen firing an AK-47 out of the right side of the car toward law enforcement.
In an interview with agents from the FBI and Colorado Bureau of Investigation Lee Grace, the third sibling and third suspect in the car, said, "We weren't trying to hurt anyone, we just wanted them to get back."
A trooper attempted to use Stop Sticks in an effort to stop the pursuit. The suspect's car swerved to avoid them and lost control.
Dylan was arrested on the scene, but Lee Grace took off on foot with a machine pistol, pointing it directly at Walsenburg Police Chief Chamberlain.
The police chief then fired a handgun, striking the female suspect in the right upper thigh.
Lee Grace told agents, "I pointed the gun at the cop," and "I deserved to get shot."
Ryan also fled but was arrested 3/10ths of a mile from the crash site.
"Pretty much had wide open highway, not a whole lot of opportunities for danger to the public. We made a decision to pursue," Lt. Col. Anthony Padilla with the Colorado State Patrol said.
The trio waved their right to a formal advisement Thursday in Pueblo County Court.
They will be back in court on Aug. 15.
