Suspected Autozone shooter in court

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- The man suspected of opening fire at an Autozone, 60-year-old Ernest Schmidt, is scheduled to make his first appearance in an El Paso County courtroom.

Schmidt is on the docket for Thursday morning and stands accused of shooting and killing one person and injuring another at an Autozone store near Palmer Park Boulevard and Powers Bouolevard two weeks ago.

He has been charged with first degree murder, attempted first degree murder, aggravated robbery and second degree kidnapping.

His wife, 35-year-old Dawn Morgan, was also arrested and charged with accessory to first degree murder.
