COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- You know you've hit a nerve when you're the butt of a viral video that all started after you couldn't get tickets to see Steve Martin play the banjo. But is it an innocent post or a power play? You decide.
Colorado Springs City Councilwoman Lisa Czelatdko did what most of us would - went to Facebook to vent.
This is part of her post:
"Boo hoo. Tried to get [tickets] to see Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers with no luck. Finally getting desperate I pulled the city councilmember card. That Pikes Peak Center is in my district, nope, nada, nothing!"
That post sparked a huge Facebook debate with more than 30 comments, including one from Bob Mayhew, who said
"Personally, if someone tried pulling their rank or position on me when "commoners" are having the same difficulty getting tickets I'd deliberately go out of my way to not help." "Sorry to sound callous, but that crap chaps my rear."
The reaction was equally heated with locals we talked to around town," Colorado Springs resident Kristien Gianaros said. "This little concert that she waned to go to, what else can she use her power for? It's kinda ridiculous."
But Colorado Springs resident Charles Jordan was much more forgiving. He said, "Everybody is capable of a mistake, we should all know that we're not above that."
Czelatdko said she would never take advantage of the position and takes full responsibility. She added, "I probably made an error with my word choice."
