COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs Police officers said the man who crashed his car into a fence and died Monday actually died from a gunshot wound.

The El Paso County Coroner's Office made the ruling Wednesday. Police said the driver was 24-year-old Luke Puryear and have ruled his death accidental.

Officers found Puryear's car in a backyard in the 5300 block of Bent Bar Road around 6:10 p.m. Monday. The found a gun in the car but didn't know at the time if it was a factor in Puryear's death.

Officers did not specify how Puryear managed to shoot himself.
