PUEBLO, COLO. -- What started as a routine traffic stop for Pueblo deputies quickly turned into a drug bust.

The incident occurred just after 5 p.m. in the 1100 block of West Pueblo Avenue Thursday.

Pueblo County Sheriff's deputy pulled over a vehicle for its dark window tinting and for having no front license plate.

The deputy asked the driver, identified as 19-year-old Michael Anthony Medina, if he was carrying any illegal narcotics in his vehicle.

Medina denied having drugs on him, but a K-9 unit did alert the deputy to the presence of narcotics.

A search of the car turned up approximately 7.4 grams of crack cocaine in a vent.

When Medina was taken into custody officials also found $1,600 in cash in his possession.

He was arrested on possession of a controlled substance and intent to distribute and is being held in the Pueblo County Jail.
