ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK, COLO. (AP) -- It's sizzling hot along Colorado's Front Range and on the eastern plains, but it's a whole other world in the high country.
Rocky Mountain National Park officials say people visiting over the Fourth of July weekend will find more snow than normal. They say the backcountry still looks and feels like winter above 9,500 feet.
So, park officials are urging visitors planning to hike in the backcountry to be prepared for heavy, wet snow and slush and ice on parts of trails in the Bear Lake area. Avalanche danger is still high in some remote spots.
And there are still snowdrifts along Trail Ridge Road, which connects the towns of Estes Park and Grand Lake.
Old Fall River Road is still closed because of snow.
