DENVER (AP) -- The Colorado AIDS Project says the number of Coloradans taking an AIDS test is up sharply.

Project spokeswoman Monica McCafferty says the number of people being tested has increased from 8,000 four years ago to 13,000 last year.

The project offers free testing every weekday by appointment and walk-in testing every Saturday.

Director John Schuetz says a new method offers a quick and painless oral swab and results are ready in half an hour.
