PUEBLO, COLO. -- Pueblo police have made an arrest in a deadly stabbing Sunday night.
Police arrested 41-year-old Richard Pruiett Monday afternoon and charged him with second degree murder.
Police said Pruiett and 49-year-old Ernest Ortegon got into a fight at the Granada Apartments, located in the 400 block of Santa Fe Avenue Sunday night, and both men suffered stab wounds.
Ortegon died at the scene in the hallway of the building.
"The information that we have so far is that it was a verbal argument that ended up being physical for some reason," Detective James Olonia with the Pueblo Police Department said.
Police said both men lived at the apartment building and believe they knew each other.
But police said they don't know what led up to the deadly fight.
"They were acquaintances. I don't know how close or how long, but both individuals lived in that same building and then they were familiar with each other from that building," Olonia said.
Olonia said several people in the apartment building heard a commotion, but no eye witnesses have come forward.
The coroner said Ortegon had multiple stab wounds but his exact cause of death is pending an autopsy.
