CONEJOS COUNTY, COLO. -- A murder suspect is back in custody after he slipped out of his handcuffs and overpowered a sheriff's deputy.
The Conejos County Sheriff's Office said 33-year-old Tyron Jay Martinez was being driven from court to the Alamosa County Jail Thursday afternoon when he managed to get out of his cuffs, and got away in the deputy's unmarked patrol car.
The car did not have a cage to hold prisoners.
Authorities found Martinez about three hours later in Gunnison County.
Martinez was being held on first degree homicide charges.
