Fort Carson soldier killed in Afghanistan

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- The Department of Defense has announced the death of a Fort Carson soldier who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. 

Pfc. Eric D. Soufrine, 20, of Woodbridge, Conn., died June 14 in Farah province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit using an improvised explosive device. 

He was assigned to the 4th Battalion, 42nd Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colo.
