COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- A judge ruled Tuesday that the alleged victims in the sexual assault case against Colorado Springs Police officer Josh Carrier will be allowed to testify in his preliminary hearing.
The judge decided having the children in the courtroom may add to the mental trauma they may already have, so they will testify via video tape deposition.
Carrier is charged with 78 counts, allegedly sexually assaulting at least six children.
Carrier volunteered at Horace Mann Middle School as a wrestling coach after serving as a school resource officer in 2008.
His bond is currently at $500,000 despite his request June 7 to have the bond reduced.
Originally, Carrier was charged with possession of child pornography before the more serious accusations of sexual assault surfaced.
The preliminary hearing is scheduled for Thursday.
