WESTCLIFFE, COLO. (AP) -- Residents of another 50 houses have been warned to be ready to evacuate because of a wildfire burning on 1,800 acres in the southern Colorado mountains.
Custer County sheriff Fred Jobe said Tuesday that residents of about 50 homes there have been warned to be ready to evacuate if the fire spreads southward. Residents of another 50 homes in Fremont County to the north have already been asked to voluntarily evacuate but it's not clear how many have decided to leave.
The fire started Sunday near Westcliffe.
On Colorado's southeastern plains, firefighters have completely contained a nearly 13,000-acre wildfire near Kim.
Some firefighters that had been working there are leaving to help fight a wildfire burning in both New Mexico and Colorado around Raton Pass as well as the one near Westcliffe.
