FORT CARSON, COLO. -- A memorial was held Wednesday for a Fort Carson soldier killed in the line of duty.
Sergeant Ken Hermogino died while serving in Afghanistan in May.
Wednesday friends and family members honored him during a service at the Mountain Post.
The service included the traditional roll-call, a rifle squad salute and a final tribute to Hermogino.
Several soldiers spoke about their memories of him and said his sacrifice will never be forgotten.
"That is one thing you could always count on Herm with, he always made it a point to know his job and do it well. You did not have to worry about him doing what he needed to do," US Army Sgt. Scott Cole said.
Hermogino began his military career in the Air Force, then joined the Army in 2009.
He was a soldier in the First Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division.
