COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. (AP) -- A Colorado bill prompted by the grisly death of a tow-truck operator awaits the governor's pen.
Gov. John Hickenlooper planned to sign the measure Tuesday in Colorado Springs, where 35-year-old Allen Rose was dragged to his death earlier this year. Police say Rose was preparing to tow an illegally parked SUV when someone got in and drove away.
Investigators say Rose got tangled in the dangling tow cable and was dragged for more than a mile.
The bill requires tow truck drivers to first place a large warning sticker on the driver's side window stating that the vehicle is "under tow" before hitching it up.
Authorities have charged 33-year-old Detra Farries with several crimes, including manslaughter and vehicular homicide, in Rose's death.
