COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- The 66th U.S. Women's Open tees off in Colorado Springs in just a few weeks.

More than 100,000 people from across the U.S. are expected to attend the golf tournament, which will be held July 4-11 at the Broadmoor East Course.

A record-setting crowd of 131,000 gathered at the Cherry Hills Golf Course for the U.S. Women's Open in 2005. Officials believe the record will be broken at this year's event. That has some residents in the Broadmoor neighborhood concerned.

"Those people have to park somewhere," resident Dee Jones said. "Sometimes parking can be an issue."

In order to address neighborhood concerns, U.S. Women's Open and city officials held a town hall meeting Thursday night in the Colorado Hall at the Broadmoor.

"They hear thousands of people are coming to their town and that they'll all end up in their front yard," Douglas Habgood, executive director for the 2011 U.S. Women's Open, said.  "This is to ensure them we have a plan."

During the meeting, officials discussed the plan to have visitors park in a remote location, then bus them to the Broadmoor golf course. Habgood said that would prevent several cars lining up in the nearby neighborhoods.

Some residents said crowded events like the U.S. Women's Open should be held in other locations, but most agreed it is good for the Colorado Springs economy.

"It can be a pain, but it brings revenue," Jones said.

Neighbor Bob Brands agreed.

"I think it is good that events like this can draw a crowd," Brands said. "It brings money to the city."

Brands recalled when the 2008 U.S. Senior Open was held at the Broadmoor East Course. He said officials did a great job organizing traffic and parking then, but was happy when it was over and feels the same for the upcoming golf tournament.

"I am looking forward to having it come, and I'm looking forward to having it leave," he said.

The 2011 U.S. Women's Open is the seventh golf championship to be held at the Broadmoor.
