PUEBLO, COLO. (AP) -- The agency in charge of finding tenants for the Pueblo Chemical Depot wants Fort Carson to consider renting some space.

The Pueblo Chieftain reports that the Pueblo Depot Authority has found tenants for about 1.9 million square feet of indoor and outdoor storage space at the depot. About 6.5 million square feet is available.

The authority was set up by the military and the state to convert the depot to civilian use as military operations wind down.

The depot still has 2,600 tons of mustard agent awaiting destruction.

Russell DeSalvo, the director of the authority, says the agency is interested in the Army as a tenant.

In a statement Tuesday, Col. Robert McLaughlin, Fort Carson garrison commander, said officials have been discussing the possibility but no decisions have been made.
