COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs Police arrested a man who they said fired a shot from a car and was found in possession of cocaine.
Authorities said a Colorado Springs police officer was in the area of Bijou Street and Murray Boulevard around 11 p.m. Wednesday when he heard a single shot fired from the north side of Hill Park Apartments.
The officer then saw a vehicle speed out of the apartment complex's parking lot and turn onto Bijou.
One of the occupants threw an item out of the window.
The vehicle eventually stopped.
Authorities said the driver, Abdurraheem Abdullah, was in possession of about one gram of powder cocaine. Abdullah also admitted that the item thrown out of the car was a handgun.
Officers recovered the gun as well as a single shell casing from the apartment parking lot.
Authorities said Abdullah is a convicted felon.
The passenger, Jeff Watson, told officers that Abdullah was the one who shot the weapon off.
When officers searched the vehicle, they discovered a second semi-automatic handgun.
Watson initially denied the second weapon was his, but later confessed that he had recently purchased the gun.
The investigation is ongoing.
