SOUTHERN COLORADO -- The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will be teaming up with state and local law enforcement Saturday to collect prescription drugs to be destroyed.
The Prescription Drug Take Back Initiative is an opportunity for people to hand over pharmaceutical controlled substances and other medication to law enforcement.
Law enforcement will have the drugs sent away for destruction.
Police officers will be monitoring drop-off points with boxes provided by the DEA. The DEA will pick up the boxes later Saturday.
Between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., people can surrender tablets, capsules, and all other solid dosage units. Police will not accept intravenous solutions, injectables, syringes and illicit narcotics.
Police have set up three locations for drop-off in Colorado Springs. They are:
- Police Operations Center at 705 S. Nevada Ave.
- Security Fire Station #1 at 400 Security Blvd.
- County DOT at 3255 Akers Drive
