COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- It was a special day for some future astronauts-in-training.
The Discovery Canyon Campus held its first-ever Space Day Friday. It was a campus-wide event that included space industry representatives from around the state and NASA.
Students partipated in various activities determined by their age group. Some of these included parachute-building, rocketry, experience in a space suit, and even space food. Students applied what they learned to the world of space travel, and got a unique experience as well.
Matt Allner is a science teacher at the campus and helped organize the event. He enabled some of the upper classmen to teach their knowledge to the younger students. He wants to build leadership skills while continuing to make learning fun.
