DENVER (AP) -- A delayed spending plan for next year is finally before a Colorado Senate committee.
The appropriately titled "Long Bill" detailing some $7 billion in general fund spending is scheduled for review in the Senate Appropriations Committee on Thursday.
The bill is more than two weeks overdue. Democrats and Republicans who propose the budget could not agree on how much to cut from education to balance the budget.
The Senate will consider a $250 million cut to K-12 schools next year. The measure also gets rid of sales taxes on agricultural products such as pesticides and software products. Leading lawmakers from both parties agreed to the plan Tuesday. Now the "Long Bill" goes to the full Legislature for approval before it can be signed into law.
