COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Zookeepers at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs are going "hog wild" over some new residents at African Rift Valley.
Two Red River hoglets, a girl and a boy, were born March 23.
They are the first babies for parents Ari and Huey.
"Dad was recently introduced to his children and both parents will help raise the hoglets," Katie Borremans, Public Relations Manager for the zoo, said. "The hoglets are getting lots of milk from mom and eating solid veggies."
Borremans said in keeping with zoo tradition, the hoglets won’t be named for 30 days.
Visitors to the zoo can see the baby hogs in African Rift Valley on sunny days when the temperature is 60 degrees or warmer.
In addition, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is kicking off its membership drive.
Individual memberships start at $59.25 and include unlimited year-round free daytime admission for one adult member plus one guest each visit.
Family memberships start at $91.50 and include unlimited year-round free daytime admission for up to two adults living in the same household and their children 18 and under, plus two one-time use guest tickets.
"Membership pays for itself in just two visits," Borremans said.
Annual memberships can be purchased at the zoo between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. or online.
