COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- One of the bodies found in the home that exploded and caught fire March 9 has been identified as 76-year-old Edna Kettenbeil, who was the last person known to have owned the house.
According to neighbors and fire officials, the house in the 3300 block of Knotwood Drive in Colorado Springs exploded early that morning, catching fire. Crews found a body in the home once they were able to put out the fire later that day, and they found a second body two days later.
Neighbors had previously said a woman in her mid-70s lived in the home with her 51-year-old son, and both were in town when the house exploded.
Crews found the other body, which has not been identified, in the back bedroom of the house. They also found two dead dogs.
Investigators are still trying to determine what caused the explosion.
Neighbors described Kettenbeil as a friendly person who was always saying hi and asking 'How are you?'
