DENVER (AP) -- A storm system headed to Colorado could drive temperatures to record highs in the eastern part of the state.

The same Pacific system is expected to dump snow in the western part of the state and winter storm warnings have been issued for late Wednesday night through Friday morning. The mountains could get up to 18 inches of snow.

In Denver, KUSA-TV reports the record high of 74 degrees set this day in 1966, could be broken.

The high temperatures will put eastern Colorado under a red-flag warning, meaning the fire danger will be high.
