COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Two families are displaced Tuesday morning after Colorado Springs firefighters work to put out fires in two separate homes in the 4200 Block of Marlow Circle near Fountain Boulevard and Jet Wing Drive.
Officials said firefighters were initially called to a house fire in the same area Monday afternoon.
That fire was reportedly started by a child playing with a lighter.
The house was later boarded up once crews thought the fire was completely extinguished.
Then around 1 a.m. Tuesday another call came in for a tree on fire in the same area.
When crews arrived on scene they found another fire at the same home had flared up and spread to a neighboring residence.
Firefighters then called out a second alarm.
Investigators said the house where the original fire started is a total loss, and the other home is badly damaged.
No one was injured during the fire.
Crews will continue their investigation once they have access to the homes. Right now they said the structures are not stable.
