LAFAYETTE, COLO. (AP) -- The Lafayette man police say admitted to stomping his mother's head after she shot him several times has been formally charged with second-degree murder.
The Daily Camera reported that 33-year-old Adam Ari Raszynski was charged with his mother's death at a hearing at the Boulder County Jail on Wednesday.
Raszynski was arrested last week at a Denver hospital while recovering from gunshot wounds he said were inflicted Feb. 23 by his mother, 60-year-old Rita C. Redford.
According to an arrest affidavit, Redford said in a 911 call that her son is mentally ill and that she told people was afraid of him and kept a gun in her room.
Raszynski is being held on a $1 million bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 23.
