COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. (AP) -- Colorado Springs residents are getting their chance to weigh in on new congressional maps.

A bipartisan legislative panel touring the state to gather ideas on new lines for Colorado's seven congressional districts planned a hearing Wednesday at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.

Wednesday's hearing is in the 5th Congressional District, currently represented by Republican Rep. Doug Lamborn. The district will grow more compact because of population growth.

After the hearings wrap up in Grand Junction March 19, lawmakers will start drawing new lines for the seven congressional seats because districts must be adjusted after every Census. Lawmakers aim to agree on new congressional lines by late spring.
