COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- The wife of the man who was dragged to death Feb. 23 in Colorado Springs has filed a civil lawsuit against the suspected driver of the car that dragged him.

Dawn Renee Rose, the wife of 35-year-old Allen Rose, is suing the suspected driver, 32-year-old Detra Farries, for wrongful death.

Farries allegedly got into the car Allen Rose was getting ready to tow and drove off.  The cable attached to the tow truck snapped from the truck but stayed attached to Farries' GMC. Rose's leg got caught in the cable, and Farries allegedly dragged him for more than a mile from Hill park Apartments to the intersection of Platte Avenue and Babcock Road, where he was finally freed.

Police arrested Farries Feb. 26, but she posted a $50,000 bond and is out of jail.

Renee Rose claims Farries was negligent and careless because she knew her car was being towed, and according to Renee, knew she was dragging Allen. She said Rose being dragged as a result of her actions led to his death.

Renee claims she now has to pay for medical bills and treatment because of the incident, and the family also lost earnings and earning capacity, according to Renee.

Farries is being charged with manslaughter Wednesday and made her first court appearance March 2.
