COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs police arrested a man early Thursday morning who would not comply with police after he disobeyed orders and was not affected by police tasers.
Police got a call around 3:40 a.m. about a burglary in progress at Austin Bluffs Apartments in the 4100 block of Morning Sun Avenue in Colorado Springs. When police arrived to investigate, they met 21-year-old Jorelle Antivo in the hallway, who charged at them claiming to be God.
Antivo would not comply with police and was tasered, which had no effect. He charged police again, and officers used force to separate themselves from him before tasering him a second time. The second taser also had no effect.
Police tackled Antivo in the hallway when he tried to run away, and Antivo finally calmed down after a medical intervention. He admitted to smoking psilocybin mushrooms, which is a hallucinogenic drug similar to LSD.
Police said the mushrooms also gave him unusual strength.
It took four officers to finally control Antivo, who was arrested for obstructing a peace officer. He was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries and released to face trial.
Antivo did not hurt any officers during the altercation.
