DENVER (AP) -- The Colorado Legislature won't be its usual collection of suits and ties over the next couple of days.

Lawmakers are putting on jeans to raise money for charity and military uniforms to honor the armed services.

On Friday, lawmakers expected to raise thousands by charging each other $50 to wear denim on the floors of the House and Senate.

The blue-jean fundraiser is an annual effort to raise money for the Junior Livestock Association, which auctions prizewinning animals Friday night at the National Western Stock Show.

And on Monday, veterans in the Legislature are invited to wear their military uniforms to an annual ceremony honoring the armed forces.
