AIR FORCE ACADEMY, COLO. (AP) -- The Air Force Academy says more than $143 million in construction projects are under way at the school despite a 12 percent budget cut expected in the current fiscal year.

The projects are funded by previous appropriations or outside contributions.

They include a $35 million renovation of Vandenberg Hall, a dormitory.

An indoor training center for athletes is also under construction. The academy raised more than $15 million for the project, including a $5 million donation from Bart Holaday, a 1965 graduate of the school, and his late wife.

A 6-megawatt solar array is being built on the academy's east side near Interstate 25. The $18.3 million project is funded by federal stimulus money.
